Bagyong Ruby- December 9 "Class Suspension"- Walang Pasok

Laguna, Makati & several cities & provinces have suspended classes for Tuesday, Dec. 9.
PAGASA, as of 5pm of December 8: #RubyPH has further weakened, is moving toward Batangas.

“RUBY” HAS WEAKENED FURTHER AND IS NOW MOVING TOWARDS THE PROVINCE OF BATANGAS.

•Expected fourth landfall: Laiya, Batangas 6 PM today and it will be associated with strong winds, storm surge and moderate to heavy rainfall.
•Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate – heavy) within the 450 km diameter of the tropical storm.
•TS “RUBY” and the Northeast Monsoon will cause rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas. Fisherfolks and those using small sea craft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards.
•Expected to Exit PAR: Wednesday evening.


Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “RUBY” was estimated based on all available data at 15 km Southeast of Laiya, Batangas (13.6°N, 121.5°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

Forecast Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 13 kph.

Forecast Positions:
•24 hour (tomorrow afternoon): 240 km West of Quezon City.
•48 hour (Wednesday afternoon): 590 km West of Quezon City.
•72 hour (Thursday afternoon): 920 km West of Quezon City.


PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #2
(Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs)

LUZON: Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Bataan, Laguna, Southern Quezon, Marinduque and Northern Oriental Mindoro including Lubang Island.

•Rice and corn maybe adversely affected
•Few large trees uprooted
•Large number of nipa and cogon houses partially or totally unroofed and old galvanized iron roofs may roll off.
•Billboards/Signage may roll off
•Travel by all types of sea vessels and aircrafts are risky

These areas will have stormy weather. Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living along the coast are warned on the occurrence of big waves associated with Storm Surge which may reach up to 1 meter.

PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #1
(Winds of 30-60 kph is expected in at least 36 hrs)

Zambales, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Rizal, Rest of Quezon, Rest of Mindoro Provinces and Romblon.

•Twigs and branches of trees maybe broken
•Some banana plants may tilt or land flat on the ground
•Rice in flowering stage may suffer significant damage
•Some nipa and cogon houses maybe partially unroofed
•Sea travel of small sea crafts and fishing boats is risky
These areas will have occasional rains with occasional gusty winds.

- Public Storm Warning Signal elsewhere has been lifted.
- The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next weather bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
