The 2011 FIBA Asia Championship for Men is the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at themen's basketball tournament of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. The tournament will be held in 15–25 September 2011 at Wuhan, Hubei, China[1]. Wuhan Gymnasiumwill serve as one of the host venues.
Powerhouse China joined SMART-Gilas Pilipinas in Group D during the draw for the 2011 FIBA-Asia Championship for Men Wednesday night at the Holiday Inn Riverside in Wuhan, China.
As host, the Chinese had the privilege to select which group it wanted to play in. Apart from China and the Philippines, Group D also features Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Back-to-back FIBA-Asia champion Iran heads Group B that also includes Chinese Taipei, Qatar and a team from Middle Asia.
